Crazy linkage

Description:  I am standing on the Atlantic and Westerns main line in downtown Sanford NC, looking straight is the ATW main and going off to the right is the CSX S line North towards Raleigh. Again, note this zig-zag linkage which operates the ATW derailers at the same time, in different locations.

Description:  In this view the CSX S line is seen to the right of this picture as it crosses the Atlantic and Western. The linkage is seen coming from the switch motor and from there, turns left and goes to a derail. As the linkage comes to the camera, it turns to the right.

Description:  Check out this long arm style derail linkage. In the forground is the actual switch or derail motor and the long gray rod seen in the background, actually operates the derail seen in the background. This is looking towards the Atlantic and Western Yard and Jonesboro NC is beyond...although the tracks don't there any longer.
